The Ed Satell Family Nitrogen/Hydrogen Alternative Fuels Reaction Research Laboratory (NHAF) carries out research to find a safe, clean and practical alternative to fossil fuels, based on nitrogen-hydrogen compounds. Comprehensive research is conducted in two main areas: investigation of the combustion process to find the optimal operating conditions and analysis of the combustion emissions; and examination the corrosion of different materials at storage and working conditions to identify materials that are stable at this reaction environment.
The NHAF Laboratory strives to create solutions that will improve the quality of life in Israel and throughout the world.As one of the few non-oil-producing countries in the Middle East, Israel has a fundamental national interest in developing alternative energy resources. As the only democracy in the region, Israel has a unique responsibility to the Western world to help solve the problems caused by over-dependence on despotic and terror-supporting regimes for the fuel that powers the free world. As an enlightened member of the world community, Technion recognizes its profound obligation to preserve the health of the planet through energy research that facilitates responsible use of natural resources
